Leader: Dr. Dominic Johnson, Queen Mary University of London
This seminar will address representations of erotic and sexual intimacy in performance. Areas for exploration might include analysis of the contemporary interest in Bataille’s Visions of Excess, permutations of performances that dis-play desire and invitations to immerse and indulge oneself in encounters of fantasy as performance.
11.00 - 13.30 Workshop: Intimacy and Recorded Presence
Leader: Kelli Dipple
Kelli is Webcasting Curator at Tate where she curates and manages an ongoing programme of Online Events for Tate Online, including live webcasts and archives, online panel discussions and audio downloads. This workshop will explore the nature and everyday reality of collaborative creativity in distributed performance practices, looking at issues of intimacy and presence within the context of the recorded and live image. The participants will explore the power of the camera, the recorded /live image and cinemagraphic techniques in the creation of intimacy over networks, as well experiment with concepts and experiences of presence and the performer's relationship to the camera.

14:00 - 18:00 Seminar: Puppeteers, Performers or Avatars: A Perceptual Difference in Telematic Space
Leader: Prof. Paul Sermon, University of Salford
This seminar will explores issues of (dis)embodiment in relation to presence and intimacy, as experienced and performed in telematic and virtual environments. It will look at dispersed and expanded bodies, multiple and interconnected identities, spectral representations and auras; in short, at hybrid bodies (/selves) made of flesh and digital technologies, and the intimate connections between them. Sermon's works in the field of telematic arts will be used as stepping stones for these explorations.
14:00 - 18:00 Workshop: Wild Sexualities, Abjection and Dis/comfort in Virtual Worlds
Ass. Prof. Sandy Baldwin, West Virginia University & Alan Sondheim
Sandy and Alan will invite participants from all around the world to join them for this workshop in the virtual world of Second Life. The workshop will aim to re-map and deconstruct motion capture and scanning technologies, and use the output to create performance and philosophy. It will use this material to explore wild sexualities, abjection, and dis/comfort in virtual worlds.

Suna no Onna is a dance film work featuring three dancers wearing specially designed interactive garments which enable a dynamic relationships to the sand dune environment created in the studio.
