Expert Seminars
Expert Seminars
Expert Seminars held in 2005 - 2006 brought together a number of experts to share their knowledge and participate in debates on the use of advanced ICT methods in research in the arts and humanities. The Seminars examined specific methods in particular areas of research and identified current and future needs. Each Seminar concentrated on one or two academic disciplines, although many of the issues addressed in each are potentially of interest and relevance to scholars outside the defined subject areas of the seminars.
In 2007 the focus was broader in terms of discipline and Seminars addressed a number of specific themes that the Methods Network is focusing on this year including: the evidence of the value of ICT in arts and humanities research; methodologies of use; communities of practice and the promotion and use of advanced ICT methods in the arts and humanities; and strategic recommendations for the future use of ICT in the arts and humanities.
Materials generated from each Seminar such as Rapporteur's reports and podcasts (where available) along with programmes and participant details will be made available on this website. Some Expert Seminars may also have papers (as given) available.
Presentations and discussions from individual Expert Seminars will form the basis of a series entitled Digital Research in the Arts and Humanities , prepared and edited by subject specialists and Methods Network staff, and published by Ashgate. The series will be authoritative, broad-ranging and practical, indicating where the main areas of future activity and engagement with ICT research methodology are likely to be in the future.
